Monday, 12/11/2023, in the latest edition of the Turkish Official Gazette, the Turkish President published a new decision amending the regulations related to the Turkish Citizenship Law. This amendment excludes agricultural lands and built real estate as conditions for obtaining Turkish citizenship for foreigners wishing to invest in real estate. The amendment requires the presence of a building on the property to be purchased to obtain Turkish citizenship, in addition to the investment value, which must reach 400 thousand dollars.
Due to this new amendment, it will not be possible for foreign citizens to obtain Turkish citizenship by purchasing lands that have not been built, whether for construction or agriculture, after the issuance of the new presidential decision.
Previously, old regulations allowed land ownership under specific conditions, such as submitting a building plan for land used for construction and submitting an agricultural plan for agricultural land.
